UPDATE FROM THE INTERVALE FOOD HUB

Dear Intervale Food Hub member,

We are reaching out with important news. Over the coming months, the Intervale Food Hub will be winding down our direct delivery and pick-up program. We will not be continuing retail operations past April 1, 2023.

We will continue to bring fantastic local food to you every week until our retail delivery/pick-up operations are fully closed. Our shop will be fully stocked with delicious food, our produce packages will still have lots of fresh produce, and our team will still be here to support you. We and our producers would be grateful for your continued weekly orders during this time. As we near the closure date, we will provide plenty of communication and plenty of opportunities to stock up and save on your local favorites while we move through our inventory.

Our staff is committed to transparent communication with you and our producers as updates come. As always, the Food Hub team welcomes questions, comments, or concerns as we navigate this transition.

We will continue to act as a resource to connect you with our local producers during this time, sharing the ways you can continue to support them as they have supported us with nourishment and hard work. Whether through their fantastic CSAs, well-stocked farmstands, direct shipping programs, and local farmer’s markets, there are excellent ways to continue receiving your favorite foods once our operations have wound down. We will be sure to tell you all about all your options and help find the best fit for you.

The decision to move away from retail operations at the Food Hub was made after months of careful deliberation and assessment of how markets have evolved since the hub was launched 15 years ago. We are deeply grateful for your membership.

This is not the end of the Intervale Food Hub. We will continue our wholesale operation as a supplier for the Vermont Foodbank and Sodexo UVM, providing locally grown food to members of our community on a different scale. The Intervale Center, our parent organization, will continue to strengthen the local food system through our Farm Viability Program, Conservation Nursery, and Food Access Program. If you would like more information about our Food Access Program, including the free summer CSA, please contact Hannah Baxter (hannah@intervale.org) for more information.

Thank you for your membership. Though the retail operations of the Food Hub are closing, we will continue to innovate and be a positive force in our community food system. We are so grateful for your support and your significant positive impact on Vermont’s food system. We couldn’t do it without you!

With Gratitude,

The Intervale Food Hub

Reid Parsons (General Manager), Taylor Firestein (Purchasing Lead), Kristen McDowell (Operations Lead), Georgi de Rham (Operations Assistant), and Anna Meli (Operations Assistant)
