Arugula (Sweet Roots)
Sweet Roots Farm is in the process of becoming VOF Certified Organic by NOFA-VT. They use organic practices to grow their crops, but have not yet finished the intensive process to be fully certified.
Sweet Roots Farm and Market is located at the former Charlotte Berry Farm in Charlotte, Vermont. The farm has been in operation for almost 40 years. Many feet have walked this land over the years - strawberry pickers, blueberry harvesters, pumpkin patch goers and growers of various fruits and plants. Originally the land of the Abenaki people, the current farmers are grateful to be here - stewarding this land with integrity. The farm is undergoing a multi-year plan to transition all growing to be certified Organic.
Jane and Dan MacLean own and operate Sweet Roots with the help of an incredible team. Jane has been farming for over 15 years. Dan loves to enjoy the bounty of the growing seasons, but focuses most of his farm work on caring for the land, spaces and facilities. He is a carpenter by day and mower and blueberry tender by night. From 2013-2016, Jane and Dan operated a small farm in Lovell, ME where they started their Sweet Roots journey. Jane was the grower for a farm in Charlotte for 4 seasons before landed at the Charlotte Berry Farm. It has been Jane’s life-long dream to own a berry and fruit farm!
