Please, oh please, keep your apples in the fridge. Apples left on the counter will develop a waxy skin and a soft, mealy flesh, whereas those stored properly (in the fridge, ideally the crisper drawer), will stay firm and delicious for 3-4 weeks. No need to bag them.
