Sweet Rowen Farmstead is located in West Glover, Vermont. From May through September, their small herd is rotationally grazed on pasture; the remainder of the year, when the cows are unable to graze, they spend their time in a well lit, sand-bedded free stall where they can achieve full physiological expression. In addition to their organically-grown hay, Sweet Rowen's cows are fed a small amount of non-GMO grain that's sourced from Quebec.
In addition to rotational grazing, Sweet Rowen's team carefully manages soil fertility by amending the soil with manure from the farm and wood-ash from the McNeil Plant, which is located down at the Intervale. They also frost-seed legumes to increase the soil's nitrogen content and improve the forage quality for cows.

Sweet Rowen Farm is a grass-based, family owned & operated dairy farm located in the North East Kingdom of Vermont, about 20 miles south of the Canadian border. They milk a small herd of Randall Lineback cattle, a heritage Vermont breed. Their barn is situated between woodlands and several rich fields where they grow & cut their own hay.
Sweet Rowen began selling milk in 2011, bottling a small volume each week at a rented facility in Albany, VT. In September of that year, the bottling room was lost in a devastating fire, forcing the farm to reconsider their options. They decided to build their own creamery on their family land, enabling them to bottle all of their milk on-site and sell it locally. The creamery opened in May of 2012 and is now cranking out small batches of delicious, non-homogenized milk and fresh cheese.
